How It Works

A committee made up of leading figures in the entertainment, marketing and hospitality industries is responsible for coming up with categories and nominees. After being nominated, Mzansi Fans Awards Head of Partnership reaches out to nominated people and brands to let them know that they are nominated. Nominees are paid R6.00 per vote and in return Mzansi Fans Awards charges voters R10.00 plus R1.50 transaction fees per budget. For transparency and to make sure that nominated people do not have to wait until the end of the year to get their money, Mzansi Fans Awards will pay nominees monthly based on how many votes they received in the previous month. Example: if DJ Boby got 5000 votes in April, early May Mzansi Fans Awards will pay him R30 000.

At the end of the year, winners per category will receive their awards. There will not be any awards ceremony but an award will be delivered to each category winner by Mzansi Fans Awards Chairperson. On top of winning an award, the winner of each category will win cash. How much the winner will get will depend on how many times people voted in each category throughout the year. For each vote, Mzansi Fans Awards will allocate R1 towards winning money; meaning if there are 500 000 votes for the 2024 Sports Team of the Year category, the team with the most votes will walk away with R500 000 in cash. If there are multiple winners, they will share the winning money equally.
